Student Fitness for Continued Enrollment — New Guidance

The Cube

New guidance is now available to help academic units manage situations in which there is concern about whether a student with a mental health impairment is fit for continued enrollment or return to enrollment after an absence.  The guidance acknowledges the University's core values of nondiscrimination and inclusiveness, health and safety, the integrity of academic standards, and confidentiality and privacy.

The guidance identifies appropriate circumstances for requesting medical evaluation, medical documentation, or compliance with specific treatment plans.  The document also identifies specific procedures and tools for managing these situations effectively, and a list of campus resources.

The information was developed by the Dean of Students Office, Services for Students with Disabilities, the Office of Institutional Equity, and the Office of the Vice-President and General Counsel.
